2007 RECAP

Amity Captures Second Straight SCC Title

(5-24-07) -- The Amity boys’ volleyball team won the Southern Connecticut Conference championship for the eighth time in program history with a convincing 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-14) victory over third-seeded Hand. By taking the 2007 title match, the Spartans claimed the crown for the first time since 2001. Amity had won seven straight titles from 1995-2001.

2005 Review

Shelton Defends Class L State Title
6/9/05 -- Top-seeded Shelton capped off a perfect season with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-15) victory over seventh-seeded Trumbull in the Class L boys volleyball state championship match at Fairfield Warde High School... It is the second straight state title for the Gaels (23-0), who extended their consecutive match winning streak to 46. Barry Smith and Kevin Goncalves led Shelton with 10 kills apiece, while Zach Hansen added 27 assists... Shelton, who captured their third consecutive SCC title with a 3-0 win over Amity on May 26, defeated South Windsor (3-0) and Fairfield Warde (3-1) to earn a spot in the championship.

Shelton Wins Third Straight SCC Title
5/27/05 -- Make it a trifecta. Shelton earned its third straight SCC boys volleyball title with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-10) victory over Amity (16-4)... The Gaels also recorded their 43rd straight win. The state's top-ranked team, Shelton won the title in style with a dominating performance in the third game, jumping out to a 13-1 lead. Barry Smith (14 kills) was a force for the Gaels (20-0) and earned the game's Most Valuable Player honor. Teammate Zach Hansen (43 assists) also played well.
