Fairfield Prep Captures 2007 Boys Swimming Title

Fairfield Prep captured its third straight SCC boys swimming title with a dominating performance at the league championships held at Wesleyan University... The Jesuits totaled 1,008.5 points, far ahead of second-place Cheshire (645) and third-place Xavier (638.5).

2005-06 Recap

Fairfield Prep Wins 2006 SCC Title
3/2/06 -- Fairfield Prep captured the 2006 SCC Boys Swimming title with a quality team effort at the Moore Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern Connecticut Conference University.  The Jesuits totaled 990 points, far ahead of runner-up Cheshire (660) and third-place Branford (578).  It is Prep's second straight league title.

In the SCC Diving Championships on Feb. 28, Cheshire's Dan Mazzaferro recorded a league-record 533.70 points to earn the title.   Hand's Steve Ferriera placed second (432.15), while Xavier's Mark Gracia was third with 393.15 points.

2004-05 Recap

Cheshire Captures Class L State Title
3/16/05 -- Cheshire captured the boys swimming Class L state title, held at Wesleyan University. It is the Rams' sixth state title since the SCC's inception in 1994-95, and their first since 2002.

The Rams garnered 482 points, finishing ahead of SCC rivals Xavier (328) and two-time defending state champion Notre Dame-WH (315). Amity (195) finished sixth.    There were eight first-place finishes by SCC student-athletes/teams in the Class L meet. Amity's Casey Quake won two events, capturing the 50-yard freestyle (21.45 seconds) and 100 butterfly (51.67). In addition, Cheshire's Dan Mazzaferro captured the 1-meter diving title (482.6 points).

At the Class LL meet which was held at Moore Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University, 2005 SCC champion Fairfield Prep placed second (408) behind champion Greenwich (567 points). Hamden (200) finished sixth.  Branford finished second (342 points) at the Class M meet, which was held on March 16 at SCSU. The Hornets finished behind New Canaan (480). Sheehan (139) placed seventh. The Titans were bolstered by double-winner Jules Alexandre, who captured the 200 freestyle (1:44.75) and 100 butterfly (52.34). Guilford's Schulyer Beeman was also a multiple winner, winning the 50 freestyle (21.11) and 100 backstroke (52.49).

3/3/05 -- Fairfield Prep captured the 2005 SCC Boys Swimming title with a quality team effort at the Moore Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern Connecticut Conference University.

The Jesuits earned 828 points, outdistancing runner-up Cheshire (783.50) and third-place Branford (547). Xavier (522) and two-time defending champion Notre Dame (475.50) were fourth and fifth respectively.   In addition, Dan Mazzaferro of Cheshire (490.65) captured the SCC Diving Championship, held March 2 at Hamden High School. Stephen Ferriera (Hand) was the runner-up (432.85 points).
