AMITY WINS 2006 SCC TITLE

Semifinals – Monday, October 30 - @Foran HS – 5:30/7:30 p.m.

#1 Amity defeated #4 North Haven, 5-1

#3 Mercy defeated #2 Hand, 2-1

Championship – Wednesday, November 1 - @East Haven HS

#1 Amity 1, #3 Mercy 0

Recap: Katie Murphy scored a golden goal in the 96th minute on a shot from 25 yards out to give the Amity High girls’ soccer team a 1-0 victory over Mercy in the 2006 Southern Connecticut Conference championship game. It was the first league tournament title in program history for Amity, who remained undefeated (18-0) heading into the state tournament. Murphy was named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Allison Horwitz stopped nine shots in the Amity net to earn the shutout. Lindsey Kunkel also stopped nine shots between the Mercy pipes.
