Boys Lacrosse Consolidates Postseason Tournament

After several years of having Division I and II postseason tournaments, the boys lacrosse coaches and athletic directors voted to have an eight-team postseason tournament that will decide one SCC champion.

2005 Recap

Hand and Hamden Cruise to SCC Boys Lacrosse Titles
5/31/05 -- Hand (Division I) and Hamden (Division II) were crowned SCC champions with consistent efforts in their respective title games, held at Branford High School.

In Divison I, the second-seeded Tigers (16-2) jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead and rolled to a 17-6 victory over top-seeded Branford (16-1-1). The Hornets were without 18 players who were suspended for a violation of team/school rules.   Tommy Lee led Hand with three goals and four assists, while teammate Andy Katz added three goals and two assists. Zack Rubin led Branford with three goals. It is Hand's second straight SCC Division I title. The Tigers defeated Fairfield Prep, 8-3, in the title game in 2004.

Hamden spotted North Haven a 4-1 first quarter lead but outscored the Indians, 11-1, to cruise to the Division II crown. Jack Vets, Antonio Perretta, Chris Richitelli and Ben Huff each scored two goals to lead the Green Dragons (10-7). Jim Heenan and Andrew Usher each scored twice for North Haven (5-13).

5/28/05 -- The top two seeds in the SCC Division I Boys Lacrosse Tournament both earned convincing semifinal victories to advance the championship round. Top-seed and host Branford defeated #4 Cheshire, 13-1 behind a four-goal, one-assist effort from A.J. Alessi.
